かつて、いろいろな俳人たちが似たような試みをした。しかし、そのほとんどは自らの仲間の作品を紹介することに終始したり、あるいは海外での覇権を目指すものだった。しかるに、この『国際俳句歳時記　夏』はあまりにも無欲である。向瀬美音は、同じ季語を違う国の人たちがどう愛し、どう作品にするかをひたすら見守った。

In the past, various haiku poets have made similar attempts, but most of them have been limited to introducing the works of their own colleagues or aiming for overseas supremacy. This International Haiku Chronicle of Summer, however, is too unselfish. Mine Mukose devoted herself to seeing how people from different countries loved the same seasonal word and how they created their own works.
