There follow a series of four books on the element of "meta-drama" in the famous "four great tragedies" of Shakespeare. By the word "meta-drama" is meant the presence in each play of something more than mere "drama", something that eludes the attention not only of spectators but even of scholars unless they read between the lines, according to the original Latin meaning of "intelligence".
